- The rare Charitable Research Reserve is a not-for-profit organization founded in 2001, located in one of Canada’s fastest growing regions. The objective of rare is to preserve, in perpetuity, an environmentally invaluable landscape of over 900 acres; we do this by focusing on conservation, ecological restoration, research, and education while also providing wonderful opportunities for passive leisure. The Reserve contains natural and cultural habitats; including old-growth forest, coldwater streams, deciduous swamps, floodplain and riparian zones, alvar and limestone cliffs.
