Seasonal Trails at rare closed until March 15, 2023

Once again, the seasonal trails at rare have been closed to the public for the winter. The River, Woodland, Alvar and Osprey Tower trails on the Grand River side of Blair Road will be shut down effective Tuesday, November 15. The Butterfly Loop trail at Springbank Farm is also closed for the season. These trails will re-open, pending safety checks, on March 15, 2023.

These seasonal shutdowns are done for the safety of hikers, as these paths may become icy and treacherous during the winter. The closure also protects overwintering wildlife in the area, which can become stressed in the cold if they are disturbed by people walking the trails.

The ECO Trail and the City of Cambridge’s Grand Trunk Trail remain open for year-round hiking, as do the Springbank and Neuman trails, as well as the Maple Lane, Grand Allee and Deer Run trails in the Thompson Tract.

We thank everyone for their patience and consideration, and we look forward to welcoming all hikers back on our seasonal trails, pending safety checks, on March 15, 2023.
